Music Mania
The DS Pulse members may be excellent writers, editors, designers and photographers, but they’ve proven that’s not all there is to them. We’ve all taken part in extra-curricular activities, from art to music to sports, but let’s be honest; how many of us have actually taken the effort to try to ace our exams in these activities? Extra-curriculars are just a fun thing to do in our free time, right? Well, wrong. Dinili Gunewardana, from the Editing Department, and Elena Thomas, Head of the Photography Department, are the national toppers in their respective Trinity musical examination categories!
Dinili scored a gob-smacking 88% in her Grade 6 theory exams for the piano, achieving a Distinction grade, and the chance to be part of an award ceremony for the national toppers in UAE. Thrilled beyond imagination, she exclaims, “I got the message a month or so before the ceremony and I was SHOCKED! It was the hardest exam I have done so far, and I was so proud of myself for getting the highest in UAE, but I know I can do better in Grade 7.”
As for Elena, she raked in a solid 98% in her Initial level Trinity practical exam for drums, earning her, too, a ticket to the award ceremony. Beginner’s luck? I don’t think so! Fingers crossed, we’ll hear more from these star girls next year, but until then…have you achieved something amazing in your musical exams? If so, then don’t be shy! Send in your achievement to DS Pulse, and see your name in our articles.
